Bible Reading List for New Believers

The following is a suggested reading list especially for new believers. The Apostle Paul recognized that John, Peter and James were "Pillars" in the early church (Galatians 2:9). With that in mind, we are focasing on combining their epistles with the basic foundational Gospels to give a believer a sold basic foundation in the Christian faith.

We have included Hebrews and Isaiah 53 with Matthew as Matthew's Gospel is considered to be written with a Hebrew audience in mind with its emphasis on Old Testament Messianic prophecies. Therefore Hebrews is a natural compliment to Matthew, further detailing Jesus' ministry as the sacificial "Lamb of God" and our "High Priest." I believe that it is very important for a new believer to understand that Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament messianic prophecies

Jude, whose voice so closely resembles Peter is combined with his epistles, and Luke with Acts.

While Paul's writngs are extremely valuable, here at Cafe Logos we believe that the "Pillars" wriitngs contain a simple foundation and should be consulted first before delving into an indepth study of the Apostle Paul's writings.

The Gospel of John and His Epistles

The Gospel of Matthew with Isaiah 53 and Hebrews

The Gospel of Mark with Peter's Epistles and Jude

The Gospel of Luke with Acts

The Epistle of James

Pauls' Epistles
Pauls' Epistles were assembled in the Canon according to their length, not according to any presumed order of importance. For a new believer, I would start with Galatians, followed by Romans, Ephesisans, Colossians, Philippians, I Corinthians, II Corinthians, I Thessalonians, II Thessalonians, I Timothy,
II Timothy,Titus, Philemon.

The chronological order is: Galatians,
I Thessalonians, II Thessalonians, I Corinthians, II Corinthians, Romans, Colossians, Philemon, Ephesians, Phillippians, I Timothy, Titus, II Timothy
