Transformation

If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away,
behold, all things have become new. II Corinthians 5:17

She was a prostitute. Her own husband was her pimp. He would parade his wife in parking lots, some even belonging to churches and various other locations, in hopes of turning her attractiveness into a profit.

Her husband died, and his wife continued her trade and supplemented her income by receiving handouts and free meals at a local outreach where she was befriended by one of the Christian women who worked there.

That servant of Christ planted the seeds of the Gospel in the wayward woman’s soul and helped her in various other ways as much as she could. In response, the woman she had tried so hard to help, repaid her by stealing some of her clothes and running away.

Years passed. The Christian worker was serving in another church when she noticed a new couple enter the sanctuary. The woman looked very familiar and she realized it was the former prostitute she had befriended and tried to help. The Gospel seeds she had planted had sprouted and taken root in her heart, and bloomed in her a brand new life. She had married a godly man and was fully devoted to the Lord.

The Christian worker who told me this story, was amazed at the total transformation of that former prostitute who now glowed with the Spirit of the Living God.

God promises us that His Word will not return void and will prosper where He sends it (Isaiah 55:11). There are multitudes of souls like that prostitute suffering in the darkness of their sin. Keep planting those seeds of God’s Word to everyone He sends your way and never be discouraged. Believe that those seeds you have planted will bear fruit some day and transform those souls out of their darkness to shine like the jewels they are in the Lord’s marvelous light.
