A Proper Fear of God

And I say to you my friends, do not be afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. But I will forewarn you whom you shall fear: Fear Him, which after He has killed has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, Fear Him. - Luke 12:4,5
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom… Psalm 111:10

A proper fear of God can help us eliminate the fear of anything else. When we realize that God is the ultimate power over our lives and that He can choose to take us in a moment, or choose to let us remain; wrapped in His sovereignty nothing can touch us that is not in His plan for our lives, even if these things can sometimes be devastating to us.

So why shall we fear what man can do to us? (Hebrew 13:6). Our lives are in God’s hands and He has promised those who have put their trust in Messiah Jesus that He will raise us up above the temporality of this existence into the realm of bliss in His presence.

View whatever comes your way in this life as the result of the world’s sin, as challenges; chances to let God form your character and draw you even closer to Him. Never keep your eyes on your circumstances, keep them upon Jesus.

Don’t fear the waves, ignore them and keep walking forward into His embrace while He carries you to your final destination.

Be humble, be confident. Never invite tribulation from a misplaced bravado, thinking you can overcome anything in your own power.

Humbly seek the Lord’s will in everything you do, and bathe yourself in daily prayer.

Learn to wait upon the Lord for His guidance and direction. He will guide you around the snares that our own lust and self-will can cause us to fall into.

You are never alone, you are always loved. Let God be God in your life and let Him change you into the person He wants you to be.
