Miracle of the Frozen Pipes

Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for Me? – Jeremiah 32:27

I had a Christian friend whose husband did not believe in God. She had come to Jesus after they were married and he did not share her zeal for her new faith. My husband and I would fellowship with them often and try to communicate our relationship with the Lord as gently and naturally as we could during the course of our friendship.

We began to endure another long winter in New England where we were living at the time. The pipes in our house froze up and with only a woodstove for heat, we could not get them to thaw out, which began a long period of “camping” in our home. My friend’s husband was very concerned for us even though we were taking the whole thing in our stride.

Then one exceptionally cold morning, our pipes unexpectedly and miraculously thawed out! This was a physical impossibility that left us, and especially our friend’s husband, astounded. This incident was instrumental in his heart’s eventual turning to the Lord.

In the Bible, God performed many miracles and He still does today, in His perfect timing and in His way. The purpose of these miracles is to strengthen the faith of His people, affirm His absolute authority over the realm He has created, and to bring souls into His kingdom.

In my own walk with the Lord, I often think back to that time when all was frozen and we thought we had a long wait until spring before our waters would flow again. We all need to remember that with God, all things are possible and nothing is too hard for Him. He that causes the waters He has made to submit to His cold, will command them to flow again for our benefit and His glory, in His perfect timing.
