Question: If Jesus is God, then how can He pray to Himself?
Answer: Jesus is the Son of God, He is not God the Father; they are two distinct persons who have a relationship. Jesus is God through His union with the Father, they are the same Spirit, making them one, "I and My Father are one" (John 10:30).
In order to understand this better, we need to see how Jesus as a man was constructed. All human beings have a soul, which is the person. We also have a life source which is our spirit. Our soul and our spirit are contained within our bodies. Jesus was born the same way, but with one important exception; His life source is God’s Holy Spirit. The Apostle Paul recognized this distinction when he said; “And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening (life giving) spirit” (I Corinthians 15:45). God operates in His Son through His Holy Spirit, which is God’s Spirit (Matthew 10:20).
