You repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out…”-
Acts 3:19
One of the major misunderstandings many people have regarding Christianity is that it is a religion that one has to “convert” to. Christianity is a relationship with God that is established by faith in the death and resurrection of the Messiah (Anointed One), Jesus.
The “conversion” that the Bible speaks about is the conversion of the human soul from a state of sinfulness to forgiveness. Sins are removed, and new life is breathed into the soul by God’s Spirit, and we become a “New Creature” (II Corinthians 5:17) whose goal and purpose is to be conformed into the image of Jesus; who is our example of a soul that is joined to God in intimate fellowship. The change is made by the indwelling Holy Spirit of God within the believer.
It is the conversion of the heart, mind and soul God is seeking, which cannot be achieved by “converting” to a religion, but only by allowing God to convert you by His Spirit through faith in the provision He has ordained through Messiah Jesus.
