We're All in the Same Little Boat

And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, "Peace, be still." And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Mark 4:39

They were all in the same little boat with Jesus when the waves began to roar and they thought death by drowning was imminent. Then the Master arose from His sleep and rebuked the wind and the sea with just a few words – “Peace be still.” Then He looked at His pupils in astonishment as they stared back at Him in awe.
“Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith? Why are you worried? You are all in the same little boat with Almighty God.”
Then to prove His point He proceeded to fill in the next few chapters of His sojourn on the planet with an outstanding array of unforgettable miracles.
His disciples watched Him cast out a demon, heal a woman with a blood disease, raise a little girl from the dead, feed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fish; they saw Him walk on the water, heal multitudes, feed four thousand more with seven loaves and a few scrimpy fish – then open the ears of the deaf.
And like a bookend to all those miraculous events, once again they are back in the same little boat with Jesus, distressed because they forgot the groceries and all they had for dinner was one loaf of bread. But there were only twelve of them to feed this time.
He’s awake now, standing in the bow, facing His students in utter bewilderment.
“Don’t you have eyes to see and ears to hear? And don’t you remember? How many miracles do you have to witness before your faith finally starts to kick in fellas?”
How many times do we have to see God move in our lives before we really begin to trust Him?
The account doesn’t say what they had for dinner, but I know they didn’t starve. And neither will we because we are all in the same little boat with our mighty miracle working God.
