Peace Be Unto You

"Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."
John 14:27

Jesus suddenly appears in your room of sorrow, failure, sin and disappointments. He startles you out of your sullen reverie with His words, "Peace be unto you. I have risen from the dead. See My wounds? Your sins are forgiven. Death no longer holds its dominion over your life.
Peace be unto you. Because I live, you shall live also. In this world you shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world just for you.
    Peace be unto you."

Jesus is talking. It is no illusion. He is real. You reach out to feel the wounds in His hands and His side; the wounds He bore for you. Is it really true?
As He has been speaking, your dreary little room has been swept clean of every remnant of the darkness in your past. "Behold, I make all things new. I am the resurrection and the life, now you can live with Me for eternity, because I lived to die for you. Come walk with Me above the waters of all that used to be, and feel the peace that I give unto you."
Peace, a gift, something rare you have never owned before. Now you are rich and secure. He fills you with treasure from heaven. The turmoil is gone. You are never alone. In a moment you will fly with the new wings He has given you, wings of His word. Now you know that you are valuable, more valuable than any of His creation. He clothes you with His grace. You are more beautiful than all the lilies. Now you know that He is worth living for - no matter what the cost.
The peace that is now yours opens a door to a brand new beginning. You have a new song, you can sing to the ones like you who so greatly need His melody.
Throw back your head and laugh out loud, then sing the chorus, sing it strong - "Peace be unto you!"
