Liberal Illogic

“I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins and that I am redeemed through Him. That is a source of strength and sustenance on a daily basis.”
This is a quote from a prominent liberal politician. He says, “I am rooted in the Christian tradition. I believe there are many paths to the same place, and that is a belief that there is a higher power, a belief that we are connected as a people.”
I would agree with him if he means that there are “many paths” that can lead to Jesus, his Redeemer, but when an interviewer confronted him with Jesus’ declaration – “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6) according to this liberal, although the verse sounds exclusive, it depends on how the verse is heard. “All people of faith – Christians, Jews, Muslims, animists, everyone knows the same God.”
This liberal believes that Jesus redeems us from our sins, but He is not exclusive. This apparently intelligent man is dancing down the path of liberal illogic and he’s not really looking exactly where his steps are leading.
There are about ten thousand religions in the world, but none of them guarantees salvation to their members. None. Only through Jesus Christ are we guaranteed the forgiveness of sins which allows us entrance to Heaven and eternal life. Jesus has to be exclusive, because when He is compared to other religions the facts declare to us that He is. And if we deny that Jesus is the only way to the Father then we are denying the atonement and the power that can save us.
If we continue dancing down this illogical liberal path, it is going to ultimately lead to an end that is dead, and it’s hard to turn around when we’ve denied the only exit to eternal life.
